Jorginho playing for Napoli

Manchester City have agreed on a deal to sign midfielder Jorginho from Serie A side Napoli – according to the latest reports.

Jorginho who joined Napoli in 2014 from Verona has been the subject of interest from a series of top European clubs but it looks like the prospect of working under Pep Guardiola has made the 26-year-old choose the reigning Premier League champions.

Napoli has set an asking price of €60 million for Jorginho and rumours had it that they had rejected a couple of bids which had fallen short of their asking price.

Now though reports from Italy are suggesting that Napoli have agreed to sell Jorginho to Manchester City for a transfer fee of around €53 million – €7 million short of what they were demanding for the player.

But it has also been claimed that the five-year contract will have a bonus clause attached to it meaning the final price for Jorginho can easily go up to €60 million.

The midfielder’s agent later confirmed that City and Napoli are on the verge of agreeing on a deal.

Joao Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli: “Jorginho is obviously willing to go to City, we’re waiting for the agreement between the clubs,

“There’s a five-year contract ready for the lad. If the agreement doesn’t arrive then obviously he’ll make himself available for Napoli.

“With the World Cup negotiations slow down a bit, but we hope the deal can be defined soon.”

During the 2017-18 season, Jorginho played 39 games in all competitions for Napoli – scoring 3 and assisting four 4 goals. In the Serie A, the midfielder is widely regarded as one of the best passers of the ball and this will certainly help him to settle down under Pep Guardiola.
