Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera could be on his way out of the club during the summer transfer window.

The Spaniard is out of contract with United at the end of the season and right now he is holding onto a £200,000-per-week wage demand which has halted talks between both the parties.

Amongst these, there are several rumours doing the rounds that Herrera has agreed on a deal to sign for PSG during the summer as a free agent.

But it looks like Man United are not sitting idle as reports suggest the Old Trafford outfit are planning to make a move for Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye during the summer.

Idrissa Gueye joined Everton in 2016 from Aston Villa and since the midfielder has been a key figure for the Toffees.

During the 2018-19 season, Idrissa Gueye has played in 28 Premier League games and the management at Old Trafford believe he would be the ideal replacement for Ander Herrera – in case the Spaniard chooses an exit.

The 29-year-old is primarily a central midfielder but can also play in defensive midfielder which might be one of the qualities which have attracted Solskjaer towards the Senegal international.

Another big reason for United making a possible move for Idrissa Gueye is his transfer fee.

If Herrera does leave the club then it will be on a free transfer meaning Man United will have to pay out of their pockets in order to bring in a replacement.

And in such a scenario, the Manchester club believe Idrissa Gueye will be available for less than £30 million.

Currently, TransferMarkt values the midfielder at around £17 million but given that his current deal expires in 2022, Everton will surely not let him leave for such a cheap amount.

Idrissa Gueye could certainly be a viable option for Man United if they can manage to snatch him for under £30 million but some experts still believe that making Ander Herrera sign a new deal should be the priority for Solskjaer right now.
