Man United went down 1-0 to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend making Ole Gunnar Solskjaer really worry about his job at the club.

The Red Devils had a bit of wind under their sails after beating Norwich City and then Chelsea last week and similarly, they also started this match on the front foot.

Daniel James caused a fair bit of problems to the Bournemouth defenders down the right flank during the first 15-20 minutes of the game and during that time it felt as if the goal for Man United will be coming at any moment now.

But eventually all that creative spark fizzled out and the Cherries took the lead through Jos King.

While Man United did try and pile up the pressure after going behind but their forwards were never able to trouble the Cherries defence too much.

And when the manager was asked why his forwards did not click during the match, Solskjaer explained the reason.

“I thought the front four looked promising but flattered to deceive a little bit today,” Ole said after the loss to Bournemouth.

“It looked like we could create chances but we just didn’t have the last pass or the last finish and that’s something we need to improve on.

“It’s a test of character when you come down to places like this, 1-0 down [at] half-time. I thought the response in the second half at least was we went for it and we didn’t stop trying.

“It was the lack of quality that couldn’t give us the point or three. You can’t really say it’s one of those days because it has been too often now away from home.

“You have got to react; you have got to recover.

“We have two more games before the international break, we’ve got a chance on Thursday to qualify in Europe and then Brighton at home – so we need a response.”

And while the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been struggling to score goals for Man United this season, a certain Romelu Lukaku has been setting the Serie A on fire ever since his move to Inter Milan during the summer.
