Man United brought in Odion Ighalo on loan from Shanghai Shenhua in January and as per his trainer, the Nigerian is ready to call Old Trafford his permanent home.

Right now Ighalo is in Lagos but there’s a big chance he might not return back to Manchester United since his contract there expires on May 31.

“He’s a wonderful athlete, I’ve never seen someone more passionate about their job than him,” the forward’s personal trainer Ekemini Ekerette told Goal.

“I think he’s in excellent physical condition. He loves the game. He just wants to train. Even if the league wasn’t going to played in the next three months he would keep training every day. He is so disciplined.

“His future was not making a difference to his intensity in training. He is just always focused on making sure he’s doing what he needs to do and then pushing himself even further.

“He’s a team player and has been talking about [Marcus] Rashford, [Anthony] Martial, [Mason] Greenwood, and how fantastic they all are, so he’s looking forward to hopefully getting to play with Rashford. He wants to stay and loves United, Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] and the fans and he would love to be a Red for the rest of his life.”

Will Odion Ighalo get a new deal at Man United?

The Premier League is set to resume sometime in the middle of June and the authorities have allowed the clubs to enter into short terms deals with players who will be out of contract before or during the remainder of the season.

So, Solskjaer should look to offer an extension to Odion Ighalo so he can be used for the rest of the matches. And as far as we think, the Nigerian international could also be handed a permanent deal at the club.

Yes, Shanghai Shenhua want the player to return back to China but if Man United were to offer him a contract then surely Ighalo will not be moving out of England for the rest of his playing career.

The Old Trafford outfit so far have been linked with players like Harry Kane and Carlos Vinicius but none of them are actually close to joining them. So this could be the usual, “A Bird in the Hand is Worth Two in the Bush” kinda situation for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
