Man United drew their last Premier League game 1-1 against Everton and in midweek they will have to shift their focus to the FA Cup where they take on Derby County in the fifth round of the tournament.

Derby go into this match at the back of some bad form having won just one of their last five Championship matches meaning Man United might not have to sweat too hard in order to progress to the next round.

But, having said this though, the last time these two sides met back in 2018, Derby managed to knock United out of the EFL Cup by winning a penalty shootout.

Man United team news vs Derby County:

David De Gea’s horrific error cost Man United a crucial goal vs Everton on Sunday and the Spaniard is set to be replaced by Sergio Romero in front of goal in midweek.

This though is not any sort of punishment as Romero has been Man United’s cup keeper this season under Solskjaer.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw could both be rested for the Derby game meaning young Brandon Williams and Diogo Dalot will come back into the starting line-up.

Victor Lindelof could drop down to the bench for the FA Cup clash as Eric Bailly is going to come into the side to partner Harry Maguire in central defence.

Some reports claim that Axel Tuanzebe could also feature but we don’t think the defender will be fit in time.

McTominay has returned back to full fitness and the Scottish international is likely to start in midfield alongside Fred which would mean that Andreas Pereira will once again find a place only on the bench.

Bruno Fernandes has been the creative spark for Man United ever since he’s joined the club and Solskjaer will most certainly have to think real hard before choosing to rest him on Thursday.

If Fernandes is rested though then it will most certainly be Jesse Lingard who finds a place in the starting line-up.

Daniel James missed the Everton game but the Welshman should be back in time to face Derby County while Odion Ighalo is also expected to get a start, upfront replacing Anthony Martial.

Man United’s predicted XI vs Derby:

Starting XI: Romero; Brandon Williams, Dalot, Eric Bailly, Harry Maguire; Fred, McTominay, Bruno Fernandes/Jesse Lingard; Daniel James, Mason Greenwood/Juan Mata, Ighalo.
