Manchester United provided Ashley Young with a new one-year deal last month meaning the 33-year-old will stay at the club until 2020.

Ashley Young joined Man United from Aston Villa back in 2011 and he is one of those handful players who has had the experience of playing under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 33-year-old came into the club as a winger but as he has aged, the player has played in a variety of different roles.

Right now, Ashley Young is playing his trade as a right-back but according to Martin Keown, Solskjaer needs to bring in a replacement for the experienced pro during the summer.

‘We know he [Solskjaer] will be given money to spend,’ Keown said on Match of the Day(as reported).

‘Central defence is certainly a position, Herrera hasn’t signed his contract in midfield, perhaps a midfielder, and definitely a right-back.

‘Ashley Young is getting on in years so definitely a right-back. They’re not far away.

‘This is a team in the quarter-finals of the Champions League so it’s not wholesale changes but it’s going to be expensive.’

But we do not feel, Man United will try and bring in a new right-back this summer since they already have Diogo Dalot who looks all set to be the new long-term right-back at the club.

Hopefully next season we will see Dalot come more into the picture and Solskjaer has provided Ashley Young with a one-year deal just to add some backup, especially during high-profile encounters.

Another big reason why Man United provided a new contract to Ashley Young is that the 33-year-old has the capability of playing in a variety of roles which is an asset to any manager.
