Man United suffered their first loss of the new season as they went down 2-1 to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford last weekend.

And next up they travel to the St Mary’s Stadium in order to take on Southampton FC in gameweek 4 of the Premier League.

The doom and gloom seems to have returned to Man United despite making a good start to the new campaign by beating Chelsea 4-0 and it looks like the players just cannot get their act together.

Up until last week, Ole had a perfectly fit squad but now going into this away game there is a possibility that the manager could miss out on some key players.

Man United news vs Southampton:

The first major Man United news is the injury to Luke Shaw and the club have now confirmed that he has been ruled out of the St Mary’s game.

Shaw picked up a thigh injury during the Palace game and the left-back is expected to be out of action for the next month.

This means that Ashley Young will start at left-back on Saturday just as he replaced the injured Shaw last weekend vs Palace.

Anthony Martial also picked up thigh injury vs Palace and the Frenchman is facing a race against time to make himself fit before Saturday’s clash vs the Saints.

While Ole is hoping that Martial could return back to training this week but rumours suggest that he will not be fit in time to make the trip.

If the forward is ruled out then it could mean that young Mason Greenwood gets the nod ahead to start upfront for the first time this season.

While some reports have claimed that Alexis Sanchez could come into the squad as Marcus Rashford is deployed as the No 9 but we do not think the manager will take the risk since the Chilean is not match-fit.

Daniel James scored United’s only goal last game and we feel he has done enough to keep his place in the starting XI.

But some rumours claim that with Martial out of the picture, the manager could opt to start with Juan Mata on the left-hand side of the pitch.

Jesse Lingard has been under scrutiny for his poor performances so far this season and there have been calls to drop him to the bench.

But Ole has made it clear that the England international has his full backing.

The other players will mostly remain unchanged with Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba expected to start in central midfield.
