Arsenal suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Liverpool in the Premier League last weekend and summer signing David Luiz was one of the bigger flops for the Gunners.

Luiz was brought in to stable the ship in defence but the Brazilian actually was the cause of all the major headaches for Unai Emery last weekend.

The defender chose to pull Mo Salah’s shirt inside the box which led to a penalty during the Liverpool vs Arsenal clash and then he also failed to stop Mo Salah during the third goal.

So naturally, the onus will be on him to make things right when Arsenal take on Tottenham in the North London Derby this Sunday.

While David Luiz has admitted that the Spurs game will be a tough one but according to the defender it has come at the perfect time since winning this encounter would certainly boost their self-confidence.

“There is no better opportunity than that,” David Luiz said.

“We are going to play at home against a fantastic team, against a team who are going to fight with us until the end for the same goals, the same objectives. So, we’re going to do our best to win.

“It’s going to be a tough game and I’m looking forward to that. When you lose a game, you want to play another game tomorrow.

“They have signed new players, amazing players, so it’s up to us to win the game.

“It’s always special to play football. I play because I love it. I still have ambition to do big things in football. It’s going to be special for me, for sure.

“We have to take the positives and work on the negative things,

“But I think everybody knows it is just the beginning of the League, not many clubs are going to go to Anfield and get points.”

David Luiz was brought in by Unai Emery with a view to start the play from the back and while he has managed to do somewhat that, but his defensive part of the game has been pathetic.

And if he continues to play in the same vein as he did vs Liverpool, Spurs too will have a carnival at the Emirates on Sunday.
