Frank Lampard was appointed as the new boss of Chelsea this summer after Maurizio Sarri chose to return back to Italy.

And the former midfielder’s first game in the Premier League will against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

While Solskjaer too will be under tremendous pressure but the Norwegian had atleast felt the atmosphere of such a high profile match last season.

Lampard, on the other hand, will be a complete novice in the Premier League and many believe that the former England international might very well falter.

But speaking before the new season begins, Ross Barkley has revealed how the new manager is preparing them for the all-important clash at Old Trafford.

“In training, he’s been saying ‘express yourself on the pitch, take risks, don’t be too safe, shoot, try and create chances’,” Barkley said after the win over Reading(as reported).

“It is something I can do and it is what he has been putting into me in training and the pre-season games.

“I have seen what he was capable of as a player when I played with him for England a few years ago.

“He has brought the work ethic that he had as a player as a manager into the squad. We have been working really hard.

“You don’t want to play in your shell, you want to be playing off the cuff sometimes to take chances and make something happen. That’s what players like myself, Mason [Mount], Ruben [Loftus-Cheek] when he’s back, that’s what we want to express on the pitch.

“All managers are like that but some managers like discipline as well, which I have added from previous managers as well.

“It’s about getting the right balance and knowing on the pitch when is the right time to take risks.

“As a player you can’t be too worried if you take a risk and whether it’s not going to come off. You have to try to make things happen, hopefully more times it will happen on the pitch. I’m looking forward to taking my chances.”
