Man United lost to Burnley 2-0 in their latest Premier League outing on Wednesday and the manager has made a very honest admission after the loss.

Speaking to BT Sport, Solskjaer has admitted that his players just did not do enough in order to pick up all three points during the match.

But at the same time, he also admitted that a number of his players are inexperienced at this level and he will stand by him in order to get them through this period.

Solskjaer told BT Sport via Footall365: “We have got to hold our hands up and say it wasn’t good enough.

“In the first half we created some half openings but we were not sharp enough to take our chances. They were clinical and efficient and defended well. We couldn’t open them up.

“The boys have given everything they have got but they are experiencing this period for the first time in their lives. When you are at Manchester United you are playing at the biggest and best club in the world. Some of them have played 10, 12, 15 games and it’s not easy for them.

“I’m going to back them and help them get through this. We can’t do anything but hold our hands up and say it’s not good enough.

“You can talk about it all day long and we are disappointed with our points tally. We work every single day for these boys to improve and perform better than this.”

VIEW ON MAN UNITED FORM:

Man United had a golden opportunity to get closer to that elusive Champions League spot after Chelsea dropped points vs Arsenal on Tuesday but that obviously has not happened.

But instead of moving closer to the number four spot, the loss to Burnley now means that both Spurs and Wolves are now tied on points with United while Sheffield United are one point behind them.

So if the Red Devils cannot get their act together soon enough then they might not even be able to play in the Europa League next season given how congested the Premier League table is.
