Premier League sides Man United and Wolves have been heavily linked with Benfica’s striker Carlos Vinicius over the last couple of weeks.

Solskjaer had been looking at the 25-year-old as the striking partner to Anthony Martial while TEAMtalk have also claimed that Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo wants the Brazilian as the possible replacement for Raul Jimenez.

TEAMtalk had reported: “Portuguese newspaper Record states that Nuno has in fact decided to sell Mexico international Jimenez at the end of the season.

“The newspaper claims that Wolves have set aside €60million to launch a raid on Benfica for Vinicius, who tops the Primeira Liga’s scoring charts for the campaign with 15 strikes.”

But now according to an exclusive report in The Mirror, both these sides are likely to miss out the centre-forward.

As per the Mirror, Carlos Vinicius has a release clause of £88 million in his contract and Benfica are not ready to take even a penny less than this.

The exclusive report claims: “Reports in Portugal claim Wolves could be willing to go as high as £53m for the ace, who is under contract until 2024 and has also been named as a potential United target.

“But Mirror Sport understands Vinicius has a huge release clause worth £88m and Benfica are standing by it after signing him from Napoli for £15m last summer.”

Clearly, Wolverhampton Wanderers are in no position to spend so much money in the transfer market this summer and we feel even Solskjaer will not be too enthusiastic about paying such an enormous amount for the 25-year-old.

This season Carlos Vinicius has netted 15 goals in just 22 league matches for Benfica so clearly he has the talent but Man United will not be ready to splurge a massive amount on him especially since they have other high-value targets in mind.

Vinicius joined Benfica from Napoli last summer and the centre-forward still has four years left on his current deal which means the Portuguese side are in no rush to sell him off this summer.
