Manchester United are looking at the prospect of sacking Jose Mourinho by the end of this weekend and bring in a new manager.

The club on Saturday have come out with a statement claiming the reports of them planning to part ways with Mourinho are totally absurd as they do not intend to do anything of such sort.

And there might be a pretty good reason why United have made such a claim.

During the beginning of this week, rumours had it that Zinedine Zidane was United’s number one target and the club were in the process of convincing the Frenchman to take charge.

And as soon as Zidane had agreed, Jose Mourinho was supposed to be shown the door.

Now though multiple reports have claimed that the former Real Madrid boss is not interested in becoming the next Manchester United manager.

Zidane feels it will not be the right choice to make at this point of his career leaving United to fall back to their other options.

And maybe that is why the club have dropped the plan to sack Jose Mourinho – momentarily.

Reports now claim that the Old Trafford outfit are looking at Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino as the next alternative but the Argentine will need some convincing to shift loyalties.

United do have a number of other options available to them but right now they feel Pochettino is the manager who can bring back that attacking brand of football.

It is still unclear if Ed Woodward has made any sort of contact with the Spurs boss and with the decision in a limbo, United have thought best to hold on to Jose Mourinho in the hopes that things will get brighter after the international break.
