According to Football Insider, Arsenal are planning a rather bold move to sign Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford at the end of this season.
Marcus Rashford has been under the scanner after a night out in Belfast and this isn’t the first time, the England international has had discipline issues under Erik ten Hag. A few months ago, he had a similar problem when he missed training due to oversleeping.
Both times, Erik ten Hag did not make too much of a fuss but if the England international cannot lift his performances, there’s a chance he will fall down the pecking order.
Last season, Marcus Rashford netted 30 goals in all competitions but this campaign, he’s managed to score only five goals in 17 Premier League starts. He has scored two league goals in consecutive matches now and against Wolves, the 26-year-old showcased one of his best performances of this season.
He’s really struggling to regain his form from the previous season and Arsenal are hoping that Man United might want to part ways with the forward now that Garnacho has become a consistent performer.
The Gunners can certainly do with a player like Marcus Rashford but there’s no way Ten Hag will allow the 26-year-old to leave any time soon.
Alejandro Garnacho can play well on both the right and left sides. If Antony is sold in the summer, Garnacho might take his place on the right, and Marcus Rashford would likely stay on the left. Since it’s unlikely that Jadon Sancho will return to the squad, Rashford’s role becomes even more important.
Mikel Arteta currently has only Gabriel Martinelli for the left wing so we can understand why the Arsenal manager is keen to go after Marcus Rashford but not even a major transfer fee will change Ten Hag’s mind.
The Manchester United manager would only consider selling Rashford if the relationship between them completely falls apart. However, it’s evident that both parties are making efforts to resolve their issues privately, without disclosing any details to the public.
Marcus Rashford signed a contract extension last summer so Manchester United are in no hurry to offload the England forward. This big of news is definitely sensational and eye-catching but a summer transfer looks impossible.
