Man United take on AC Milan in the Europa League in midweek and then welcome West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday. And Marcus Rashford is likely to miss both these matches.

The likes of Pogba, Van de Beek and Edinson Cavani are already out injured and now the name of Marcus Rashford has also been added to that list, after the forward picked up a knee injury against Man City on Sunday.

Thankfully, the injury is not too serious but Solskjaer has made it clear that the England international is set to be ruled out for at least a week.

“I don’t think he’ll be available for tomorrow,” Ole said in his press conference. “He’s still getting treatment but he didn’t join in the training today. Even though normally I’m a very optimistic guy, I still think he’s going to be out tomorrow night and a doubt for the weekend.

“But that 60-70 yard recovery run [against City, which led to the injury] just showed the hunger and spirit and the humility in our work that we’ve got at the moment. It was probably worth it there and then, but you’re never happy when you lose players for games.

“I’m not sure if anyone will be back. “David [De Gea] is not available. Donny [van de Beek], no. Paul [Pogba], no. Edinson, maybe, but probably not. Juan [Mata], no and Marcus, maybe, but probably not. So it’s similar to Sunday, but maybe we’ve lost Marcus.”

The absence of Marcus Rashford will be a big blow for Solskjaer, especially since Cavani and Juan Mata are also on the sidelines.

With so many forwards out injured, both Dan James and Mason Greenwood should get starts vs AC Milan and also West Ham United while Anthony Martial is likely to lead the line.

The lack of experience in the first third will be a real cause of concern for the Man United manager over the next two games and once again, the Red Devils might have to rely on Bruno Fernandes to pull them through.
