All throughout the 2018-19 season, there has been much talk about a budget-cut for Unai Emery in the transfer market if Arsenal fail to get back into the Champions League.

And now that the Gunners failed to win the Europa League, they will once again play in the same competition next season and rumours have it that Emery will only get around 45 million pounds to spend in the transfer market.

Oddly enough though a lot of big names have been linked with the Gunners with the latest one being Mario Gotze.

Mario Gotze started out his youth career at Dortmund and then went on to join Bayern Munich in 2013.

But with the Bavarians, the World Cup winner turned out to be a massive flop forcing him to re-join BVB in 2016. And this past season, the German international has slowly and steadily been getting back his form.

During the 2018-19 season, scored 7 and made 7 goals in 34 games across all competitions and now reports are claiming that Arsenal want to sign him.

Mario Gotze currently has just more than a year left on his current deal with the Bundesliga outfit which means that he will be a free agent pretty soon. And Arsenal are using this opportunity to lure him in this summer.

Reports claim that Unai Emery believes the current contract situation might help him sign Gotze for a really cheap price and the German would be a perfect replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

But Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim Watzke has rubbished all these rumours.

“I don’t know a reason why he [Götze] should leave,” Watzke told DAZN.

Recent reports have suggested that Dortmund are very happy with Mario Gotze and hence are planning to offer the 27-year-old a new deal which will keep him at the club for a couple of more years.

While Arsenal’s hopes are truly ambitious but it is very evident that they are punching above their weight here. More so since Mario Gotze would not be too keen to head to the Premier League after the catastrophe at Bayern Munich.
