Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has brought in a number of new faces to the club during the summer transfer window but the former Liverpool midfielder wants more.

Recently Gerrard went on record to say that he wishes to bring in atleast two more players to his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Light Blues boss said:

“It’s not just about the workload. It’s about the positions,

“We feel a little light up front after losing Josh Windass to Wigan. He scored a lot of goals for us last season and the idea is to replace those goals in the coming weeks.

“At centre-back, we’re quite light. We are asking a lot of Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic who have been tremendous for us this season. We would like some cover in that area as well.”

And it seems that the Gers management have heard the plea of their manager and their director of football, Mark Allen seems to have given the green light.

In an exclusive interview with Sportsmail, Allen said:

‘You have to have a real understanding of what is required here,

‘When you looked at the league and you looked at our squad, my interpretation was that we needed to be bigger, stronger, faster. We had to be more athletic to compete.’

‘You have to win the right to control a game, let ability takes it turn after that. But you have to earn the right first and to do that you need certain characteristics and traits in players.’

Rangers have so far signed 11 players during the summer transfer window and many believed that the Light Blues were not interested in splurging any more cash.

But it seems that Mark Allen has complete faith in his new manager and is ready to back Steven Gerrard with the adequate cash he needs to bring in more players.
