Real Madrid get a defensive boost for the Bayern game but will it be enough to stop Harry Kane?

Real Madrid head to Germany in midweek to take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Eder Militao is in line to get a start.

The defender ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament back in August and it has been a long road to recovery for him. He made his comeback earlier this month against Athletic Club and after a few substitute appearances, Eder Militao finally got his first start in over eight months at the weekend.

Militao played 90 minutes during the 1-0 win over Sociedad and speaking after the match, his manager admitted that he is in line to start against Bayern Munich as well.

Carlo Ancelotti said: “Militao came back and played very well. It’s an option I have for Munich (to start him), and I’ll evaluate it in the coming days. He is gradually returning to his best level – he’s not at 100% yet, but he has time to improve.”

Nacho played alongside Rudiger against Manchester City and the pair did a brilliant job to knock out the defending champions but there’s a big chance that Ancelotti is going to put Eder Militao back into the starting line up.

Bayern Munich might be having a dismal domestic season but that hasn’t stopped Harry Kane from scoring 41 goals in 42 appearances during his first season with the Bavarians and the Real Madrid manager will want two of his best centre-backs on the pitch against the likes of Kane, Sane and Musiala.

Rudiger did a brilliant job at stopping Erling Haaland but Harry Kane knows all about him from their London Derby days so the 31-year-old will need another top-class central defender by his side, especially when Madrid are playing away from home. Nacho has played 28 games as a centre-back this season but that has primarily been due to the injuries to Militao and David Alaba.

Eder Militao is obviously not back to his peak form but he’s gotten minutes under his belt since making a comeback and we think Carlo will be much more comfortable using the 26-year-old Militao rather than the 34-year-old Nacho Fernandez.
