Joe Willock has impressed a lot of people at Arsenal this season and according to Gabriel Martinelli, the player has a Brazilian touch.

Willock has come up through the ranks at Arsenal and during the current campaign, the youngster has featured in 15 games across all competitions managing to net 4 goals.

And speaking with Arsenal’s official website for a Q&A session, Gabriel Martinelli explained that Joe Willock is ever-present when in attack and the youngster certainly plays the Brazilian way.

“I think Joe Willock [has the most Brazilian style],” Martinelli said.

“He has personality, he doesn’t keep his head down, he always drives forward. He takes the ball and tries to dribble one player, then another.

“He doesn’t hide away in games. He’s always searching for the best options. I think his style is similar to the Brazilian way.”

Verdict:

Joe Willock has certainly won the faith of manager Unai Emery as the player has made regular appearances for the first XI despite the likes of Lucas Torreira and Dani Ceballos waiting on the bench.

The 20-year-old is very good with the ball at his feet and this especially is a trait of great Brazilian players.

So yes, the midfielder could be easily passed as a Brazilian despite him having English roots.

Up until now, Willock has started four games in the Premier League but now with Granit Xhaka not expected to play any more for the club, the youngster should see even more game time if Unai Emery manages to remain in charge until the end of the season.
