Mason Mount has been one of the best players for Chelsea during the 2019-20 season but the youngster might just have picked up a nasty injury.

The attacking midfielder has so far featured in every game for the Blues and managing to net 3 goals in the league matches. But on Tuesday he was on the receiving end of a nasty tackle from Valencia’s Coquelin following which the Chelsea lad had to be taken off.

Speaking after the match, Lampard did not provide any major details regarding the extent of the injury which immediately put his in doubt for the Chelsea vs Liverpool clash on Sunday.

“He has got an ankle injury, we don’t know how bad it is, we are going to have to assess it in the next 24-48 hours to see the scale of the injury. To see how it is,” Lampard told the press(as reported).

“It’s too soon to say, obviously it was a shame because he was playing so well and started well and we had to make the change early.”

But thankfully a few reports after the match suggested Mason Mount was not seen leaving the stadium on crutches which meant the damage might not be too serious.

And now as per the latest updates, Mason Mount has gone through a scan on Wednesday which shows that there is no ligament damage on his ankle.

This is certainly a good sign for his fitness and there is still a slight chance of his featuring vs Liverpool this coming weekend.

As per the same report, another scan will be performed later this week once the swelling goes down and then we will know for sure whether Mason Mount will be fit to play or not.

The youngster has been in great form for Chelsea this season but some experts believe the manager should not risk playing him especially since this is only the start of the season.

Another big reason why Lampard does not need to risk him during the Chelsea vs Liverpool clash is that the manager has Pulisic who plays in the same role as Mason Mount.
