The Premier League was a two-horse race last season with Man City nicking the title from Liverpool courtesy of a single point. And this year too, the story is going to be somewhat similar.

Both City and Liverpool are expected to be title contenders while the other four big clubs fight it out for the remaining two Champions League spots.

And speaking about the Top Four race former Spurs man Clive Allen has predicted that it will be Arsenal who are likely to join City, Liverpool and Spurs in the Champions League.

“Who will get fourth spot? I think it’s a fascinating question,” he said on Wednesday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast(as reported by talkSPORT).

“Liverpool and Manchester City are ahead of everyone else and Tottenham are the best of the rest.

“But fourth spot? I think perhaps it will go to Arsenal because of their firepower.

“They’ve got to address their defensive problems, but if they solve that and you look at their attacking firepower compared to the other teams chasing that fourth spot…

“For me, it will be Arsenal.”

VERDICT:

The top two spots are more or less fixed and we see no other team coming close to challenging Man City and Liverpool for the title.

And as far as Spurs are concerned, the should be able to secure the third spot since they are the most consistent side in England after the two big names.

But honestly, we have serious doubts regarding Arsenal making it back to the Champions League.

The Gunners had made a pretty decent start to the new season but they have failed to pick up wins in their past three Premier League matches. And we strongly feel that the defence will Unai Emery down this campaign.

Chelsea too have made a rocky start whereas Man United are the only side who have massively improved their backline by bringing in the likes of Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

So if Solskjaer can now sort out the goal-scoring duties then Man United should be the final team to gain direct entry into the Champions League next year.
