Maurizio Sarri made very few signings at Chelsea during the summer transfer window and one of them was Mateo Kovacic who arrived at the club on loan from Real Madrid.

And under the Italian boss, Mateo Kovacic has seen a consistent amount of game time, especially in the Premier League.

So far, the midfielder has played in 23 league games but rarely does he get to play 90 minutes.

Most often than not, Mateo Kovacic is taken off late in the second half to be replaced by Ross Barkley and vice versa.

And this constant substitution of the same personnel has led many to believe that Mateo Kovacic does not see a future at Chelsea and wants to head back to his parent club Real Madrid during the summer.

Now though several reports in Europe are claiming that the midfielder is more than happy with his life at Chelsea and wants to stay in the Premier League beyond the summer.

Kovacic knows very well that he will not be guaranteed game time if he were to head back to Madrid so he sees more value in staying put at Stamford Bridge.

This is certainly great news for the Chelsea boss, but there is one small problem.

It is understood that Mateo Kovacic’s loan contract does not include a buying clause in it.

While this might worry a few Chelsea fans but right now, not too many clubs want to sign Mateo Kovacic which means the London outfit are the front runners.

If the midfielder can keep up his good work until the end of the season then the Blues plan to launch a bid during the summer.

And they feel that Mateo Kovacic can permanently stay back at Chelsea without too much of a hiccup.
