Rangers FC have signed four new players during the January transfer window. Two of them have already joined the team while the rest will arrive during the summer.

And according to the latest reports, Steven Gerrard might provide a new contract to right-back Matt Polster who arrived at Ibrox for a trail last month.

Matt Polster played for Chicago Fire in the MLS last season but his contract with the American club expires this month which means the Gers can get him for free.

Now reports have claimed that Gerrard has invited him the 25-year-old to Tenefire which indicates that the club might be impressed with him.

And this also means that the Gers could be preparing to offload James Tavernier.

Yesterday reports had suggested an English club was planning to launch a bid for the right-back and rumours have it that the offer was going to be in the region of 7 million pounds.

It is still not clear as to which club is interested in James Tavernier but most people are thinking that it might be Brighton since the EPL club has shown interest in James Tavernier last month.

Many pundits have claimed that Rangers will surely offload their right-back in case such a big amount is offered and maybe, just maybe Matt Polster is the backup.

Some rumours claim that the Gers have chosen to offer a deal to Matt Polster simply because they are sure that they are going to lose James Tavernier eventually.

James Tavernier has been an influential figure for Rangers this season and Gerrard would not want to sell him off during the middle of the season.

But with the way the interest in the full-back is growing, Tavernier might very well leave Ibrox during the summer and Matt Polster could prove to be a perfect replacement.
