Rangers FC have signed Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis during the January transfer window but the duo are not the only signings this month.
Kilmarnock’s Jordan Jones and Dundee’s Glen Kamara has also signed pre-contracts with the Gers and will be arriving at the club at the end of the season.
But now it seems one more player could pen a deal with Rangers this month.
The player we are talking about is American defender Matt Polster.
Polster arrived at Ibrox on a trail during December of 2018 and now the right-back seems to have impressed Steven Gerrard.
Previously Polster was playing for MLS side Chicago Fire but his contract expired at the start of this month meaning he is now a free agent.
Rangers are currently stationed at Tenerife for some warm weather training and reports suggest that Matt Polster is part of the squad which has travelled to the Canary Islands.
It is still not clear if the club are planning him to offer a new deal but the fact that the manager has chosen to take him also is proof that Matt Polster could stay until the end of the season.
Yesterday reports suggested that an English club were planning to launch a bid for James Tavernier and if somehow the right-back is sold off this month then Matt Polster will be an ideal replacement for him.
Apart from playing in the right-back role, the 25-year-old can also play as a defensive midfielder which is an added bonus for Steven Gerrard.
Matt Polster is planning to restart his career from scratch after making just three appearances for Chicago Fire last season. His absence though was not due to poor form but rather a knee injury which kept him in the sidelines for more than eight months.
