Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi seems to be a key part of Unai Emery’s plans this season.

The 20-year-old was brought in from FC Lorient last summer for a fee of just €8 million but the youngest made a pretty decent impact by featuring in 33 Premier League games during the 2018-19 campaign

And this season, the 20-year-old has already started in both the games for the Gunners which is an indication that Unai Emery has laid his faith on Matteo Guendouzi to shine in the midfield area.

Speaking earlier this week, Matteo Guendouzi talked about his ambitions of playing for the French national team and also how two of his Arsenal players have helped him settle down at the Gunners during the past year.

“He [Aubameyang] gives me a little punch on my left shoulder every morning, with his attacking colleague Lacazette, every morning,” Matteo Guendouzi said (via Football London).

“They are really important to me.

“They are like two big brothers ever since I arrived, they made it really easy for me, on the pitch and off of it. They are super guys.

“We clearly have a better squad than last season with big signings this summer,

“We hold all the cards to have a great season and finish in the top 4 to be able to play in the Champions’ League next season.

“My aim is to be in the senior French national team. I know I still have a lot of work ahead of me.

“I did the Euros with the U21s this summer, we have the Olympics coming next summer, so if I continue on my path, with more work and continuing to show my qualities on the pitch, I hope I will be there one day.”

Matteo Guendouzi partnered Granit Xhaka in midfield vs Newcastle on the opening weekend and then vs Burnley, he was partnered by Willock.

And now that Lucas Torreira has returned back to full match fitness we believe that the duo of Matteo Guendouzi and Torreira will feature in central midfield vs Liverpool next weekend.
