‘This’ Premier League manager sets a unique record in the top five leagues of Europe: But can they win anything this year?

Chelsea drew their Premier League encounter with Everton 0-0 meaning they are now four points behind league leaders Manchester City.

While the draw was certainly a huge blow for Maurizio Sarri and his men but after the game, the Italian has managed to set a unique record with the Blues.

Maurizio Sarri came in at Stamford Bridge quite late into the summer transfer window – owing to a standoff between the Blues and their former manager Antonio Conte. And many felt that the former Napoli boss had very little time to get Chelsea back to winning ways.

But Maurizio Sarri has obviously proved everyone wrong by making the London outfit worthy title contenders.

And after the 0-0 draw vs Everton this weekend, the Chelsea boss is now the only manager in Europe’s top five leagues yet to taste defeat.

While Chelsea did lose to Manchester City in the Community Shield back in August but that match cannot be counted as a competitive game given as many as six substitutes were allowed for that game.

Maurizio Sarri also beat the previous record held by Nottingham Forest’s Frank Clark back in 1994 as the new manager with the most number of unbeaten games under his belt.

Talking about the record and whether he was aware of it, Maurizio Sarri said: “Yes I am,

“But of course I have to say thank you to the club because they gave me a very strong squad.

“I am happy with the second half. We played very well. I am not happy really with the first 25 minutes. We moved the ball slowly. But then I thought we played very well, especially in the second half.”

While Chelsea have made a superb start to the new season under Maurizio Sarri but both Manchester City and Liverpool have made equally good starts.

Like Chelsea, both City and Liverpool are also unbeaten in the Premier League but the duo have suffered defeats in the European Champions League.
