Man United star pulls out of France squad hours after joining the national squad: Who will replace him?

Anthony Martial Man United

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has had a resurgence during the past month which has been duly rewarded with a call-up to the national squad.

Anthony Martial was left out of the World Cup squad during the summer after a poor season for United last time around.

And the forward did not have the brightest starts to the new campaign either with Jose Mourinho opting to play Alexis Sanchez in place of Martial.

But as the weeks have rolled along, Mourinho has reverted back to the Frenchman who has repaid the faith of his manager with some fine performances.

This fine form from the forward was enough to get him up a call-up to the France squad for the upcoming international break.

But recent reports suggest Anthony Martial has returned back to Manchester due to an abductor injury.

Martial was pictured at France’s Clairefontaine base on Monday but soon after that, he headed back to Carrington meaning his will miss the Les Blues’ games vs Holland and Uruguay.

Anthony Martial played the full 90 minutes against Manchester City on Sunday meaning he picked up the injury during the derby.

The absence of Anthony Martial adds to that of Paul Pogba who is also recovering from an injury.

France manager Didier Deschamps has already called up Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko as a replacement for Paul Pogba and now Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has been added to the squad following the withdrawal of Anthony Martial.

This sudden injury will certainly be a huge blow for Martial who was finally moving up the ranks for both club and country.

While the absence of Anthony Martial will surely a setback for Deschamps but Jose Mourinho will surely be a happy man given that his top player will get ample time to recover during the international break.
