Arsenal could be on the verge of losing Aubameyang and/or Alexandre Lacazette at the end of the current season. And as per Le10 Sport, manager Mikel Arteta might be looking to bring in Memphis Depay as the replacement to either one the two Arsenal men.

Memphis Depay joined Manchester United from PSV in 2015 but the Dutch international had a terrible time in the Premier League and was finally sold to Lyon in the summer of 2017.

In France, the 26-year-old has done more than a decent job though and during the 2019-20 season, he has netted nine goals in just 13 Ligue 1 appearances for the club.

The report claims: “In view of the possible departures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mikel Arteta has clear ideas about the striker he would like to recruit this summer: the Lyonnais Memphis Depay.

“Mikel Arteta greatly appreciates the profile of Memphis Depay, both for his technical qualities and his personality.

“And with a contract ending in June 2021, the Dutchman is in a strong position to be able to obtain a release certificate. If he does not extend this summer, OL will take the risk of seeing him go free in a year.

“According to our information, Depay is clearly looking elsewhere. And the plan to return to England could have something to seduce him. No action has yet been taken.

“The Arsenal board focuses on the Lacazette and Aubameyang files as a priority. If one or both of them leave the ship, Memphis Depay will be one of Mikel Arteta’s priorities.”

Can Arsenal bring Memphis Depay onboard?

The move of Memphis Depay to the Emirate totally depends on whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Lacazette leave the club or not.

But his time in France has really polished the Dutch international and surely Depay will want one more shot at succeeding in England, after his flop show with the Old Trafford outfit.

At Manchester United, the 26-year-old was really immature and naive but he’s grown as a player since then and we think, he can be a great addition to the Arsenal first-team squad next season.

And with just one year left on his current deal, the North London side will have the opportunity to sign him at a really lucrative deal which is indeed an added incentive for the Gunners manager.
