Arsenal were expected to announce Mikel Arteta as their new manager after this weekend’s game meaning Freddie Ljungberg would have been in the dugout when the Gunners take on Everton on Sunday.

And this news was further made certain when Man City Pep Guardiola claimed he had no new news of Mikel Arteta heading to the Emirates.

Guardiola insisted[as quoted]: “There was no change. I don’t have any news. We prepared the game as best as possible. Before, during and now after and we did it.

“I spoke (Tuesday), my press conference I had 48 questions and 35 were about Mikel so I don’t have to say anything more until there is news. When there is news, in my next (press) conference when you ask me something I will answer.”

Now though it seems like the Gunners have made significant progress and as per the latest reports, the club are set to announce the name of Mikel Arteta as their new manager in the next 24 hours.

And this is being claimed because Arsenal interim boss Freddie Ljungberg was expected to talk to the press at 1:30 pm on Thursday but that has now been cancelled with most reports that the club are now preparing to unveil their new boss.

As per the latest reports, the former Arsenal man will be getting a three-and-a-half-year contract at the club but still, the question remains as to when will he exactly take charge of the squad.

The major publications in England are of the view that Freddie Ljungberg will remain in charge of the team when Arsenal take on Everton during the weekend but Mikel Arteta will remain in attendance to watch his new side in action.
