Arsenal beat Brentford 2-1 in the Premier League, thereby making a strong case for themselves in the top-four race but according to Mikel Arteta, the job’s far from done.

The Gunners have revived their form in recent weeks and this win against Brentford is really massive given that they have a couple of games in hand. Arsenal have played only 23 games meaning if they keep winning matches, they will very easily get into the top-four.

Mikel Arteta though feels while his side are etching closer to their target, the top-four race is not even close to being wrapped up.

“There is a long way to go,” he said, as per Sky Sports.

“But we are a little bit closer today because we won our game. It is what we have to do. You can see with the results how tough it is to win in this league.

“So we need to go on Thursday again, prepare very well, against Wolves it is going to be a really difficult match.

“We need to perform well to win and play better and better and better, that’s the aim. We cannot look too far. Things change very quickly. It’s really difficult to win matches in this league.”

Arsenal have now won two games in a row and without a doubt, they are one of the favourites to secure a Champions League spot but the small squad is surely going to be a cause of concern for the manager in the coming weeks.

Arsenal let several players leave in January without bringing in any reinforcements so Mikel Arteta will not have the luxury to rotate and rest his players. Games in hand also mean the North London side will have to play several midweek games so fatigue is surely going to be a big issue.

Also, there’s very little backup for the various positions so if there’s an unwanted injury or suspension then the Gunners’ season will crumble in a flash.

Arsenal are bound to drop points from now until the end of the season but somehow if they can ensure that they are more cautious than all the other top-four contenders then they should be able to get back into Europe’s top tier next season.
