Bruno Alves is on his way out of Rangers FC after the Gers decided to terminate his contract with mutual consent.

The 36-year-old has been standing on the exit doors for some time now and the termination of his deal now means that the defender will head back to Italy and join Serie A side Parma.

And with the moving out of Alves, Gerrard is now looking to bring in a new centre-back and the Light Blues have made a bid for Millwall’s Jake Cooper.

Yesterday a couple of publications had reported that Rangers have placed a £3 million pound bid for Jake Cooper but now Sky Sports are reporting that Millwall have rejected the bid.

Cooper, 23, started his career at Reading but after a number of unsuccessful seasons, the defender was eventually sold off to Milwall where he has thrived under manager Neil Harris.

Jake Copper played a total of 42 games for the Championship side clocking up 4 goals and 3 assists in the process and he will definitely be an upgrade to Bruno Alves.

Cooper is easily one of the best players in the Millwall side and the Lions seem to be holding out – hoping to squeeze more money out of the Ibrox outfit.

And quite honestly the demands of Millwall seem acceptable given the fact that Jake Cooper’s current contract with the club expires in 2020.

And the demands of the Lions could have easily been met by Rangers if they hadn’t already spent so much money during the transfer window.

The Gers have already splashed close to 6 million pounds and some rumours suggest that Jake Cooper has been valued at 5 million pounds by Milwall which is undoubtedly a big cause of concern for Steven Gerrard.
