Arsenal took on Liverpool in the final game of 2018 at Anfield and the match was scheduled to be a cracker.

But after the 90 minutes, it turned out to be a big humiliation for the Gunners as Liverpool ran riot 5-1.

Arsenal took the lead through Maitland-Niles but then it was just a wave of Liverpool attacks which eventually forced the London side to crumble.

And one of the Liverpool goals came from the penalty spot after Mo Salah was brought down inside the box.

That decision has since caused a fair bit of debate with many Arsenal fans claiming that Mo Salah went down too easily.

And this controversial decision came right after Mo Salah’s another penalty win vs Newcastle United during which the Egyptian had clearly dived.

But this time his teammate Andy Roberston has come out in his defence claiming the decision during the Arsenal game was a clear penalty.

“Every time it happens, we go back, everyone looks at the video, and you go, ‘well, it’s not a dive’,” Robertson told the Daily Telegraph(as reported).

“He is not that sort of player, so how many times is it going to happen? I was at the edge of the box and it was a stonewaller.

“If people are starting to say Mo has gone down easily, it’s not fair. The one against Arsenal, especially, he got clipped three times.

“They still appealed. It’s a bit of desperation.”

Liverpool picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win vs Brighton this weekend and the only goal in the game came through a penalty scored by Mo Salah.

These three points mean, Liverpool maintain the gap with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
