Evan Ferguson wanted by Man United and Chelsea Brighton and Hove Albion

According to a report in the Standard, Chelsea are now willing to offer £70 million-plus for Moises Caicedo as he happens to be the number one target for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Brighton and Hove midfielder has publicly admitted that it will be hard for him to say no to a club like Chelsea and as per some sources, he’s already agreed personal terms with the Blues. However, it looks like the Blues are not ready to meet Brighton’s transfer demands just yet.

Chelsea have previously seen a £60 million bid rejected for the Brighton midfielder and there’s a big chance the Seagulls will reject this new offer as well.

Caicedo’s contract with Brighton expires in 2027 and the club are holding out for £100 million. Rice and Moises Caidedo were the two most sought-after midfielders this summer and now that the Hammers have sold Declan Rice for £105 million to Arsenal, Brighton are hoping to bag a similar fee for their midfielder as well.

Will Chelsea miss out on Moises Caicedo or will they be ready to pay £100M?

In January, Brighton rejected an offer of around £75 million from Arsenal so there’s no way they will agree to this new £70 million plus bid from the Blues.

The Seagulls will surely reject this approach as well and if Chelsea are serious about signing Moises Caicedo then they will have to shell out somewhere between £90-95 million for the 21-year-old.

The South American has played just one full season in the English top division and in just 45 Premier League games, he has caught the attention of some of the big boys of England.

Caicedo is very inclined to join Chelsea but the Blues will have to up their financial offering if they are serious about signing the midfielder. Pochettino has informed his management that he wants to add the midfielder to his squad before the pre-season matches begin. The Blues representatives are in constant talks with Brighton but we don’t think Moises Caicedo will become a Chelsea player before they face Wrexham later this week.

The London side have brought in £230 million by selling as many as 11 players so we can’t figure out why they are not ready to meet Brighton’s demands. Also, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all left the club so signing a new central/defensive midfielder is the need of the hour.

The new Chelsea owner has not shied away from spending money in the market and we have a strong feeling that Caicedo will be a Chelsea player before the 2023/24 season begins. They are just testing the waters with smaller bids but Chelsea know fully well that anything less than £90 million and Brighton won’t even hesitate to turn them down.
