Nabil Fekir to Arsenal

Manchester City – the best team in England were humiliated in their own backyard by Lyon during the opening weekend of the Champions League.

City who were playing infront of an empty Etihad stadium did not have things going their way right from the very beginning as their manager Pep Guardiola had to watch the game from the stands owing to a touchline ban.

This meant Mikel Arteta took charge of the team during the game and it surely did not go too well for Guardiola’s wingman.

City went 2-0 behind before halftime and even though Bernardo Silva pulled one back in the second half it was not enough to hide the embarrassment.

And for Lyon, their star performer of the night was their captain Nabil Fekir – the same player who was tipped to join Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

It was reported that Liverpool had submitted a £50 million bid for the attacking midfielder and everyone felt it was just a matter of time before Nabil Fekir would be playing at Anfield.

But somehow that was not the case as the 25-year-old chose to stay in Lyon.

So when he performed so exceptionally against the reigning Premier League champions, he was asked whether this superb performance was a revenge for his failed transfer to Liverpool.

To which Nabil Fekir replied: “It’s not revenge. But I want to prove I’m a good player.”

The summer move had reportedly collapsed due to the player recurring knee injury but he showed no such signs during the dominating performance against Manchester City.

And now some reports have started claiming that Jurgen Klopp is planning to make a move for Nabil Fekir once again during the January transfer window.
