Rangers vs Leipzig

Rangers FC signed Steven Gerrard as their new manager during the summer and the club’s main focus was to get back to competing with Celtic FC for the Scottish Premiership.

And the fans can safely say the Light Blues are slowly and steadily getting back their top club status.

Rangers are currently fourth on the Premiership table with eight points – 2 points behind their Glasgow rivals Celtic who are in the second spot.

While many players and pundits have predicted the Gers will challenge Brendan Rodgers’ side for the title this campaign but former Hoops manager, Josh Barnes has predicted otherwise.

“It’s sink or swim,” Barnes said.

“It’s an unforgiving environment. When I went up there, Celtic were much closer to Rangers; they were Champions and had much more money. But the demands to win were far greater.

“Rangers fans understand that it may be three or four years before they have the financial clout to challenge Celtic. Rangers is equally a big a club as Celtic. In terms of the players and the salaries, Celtic are streets ahead.

“Rangers fans are intelligent enough to know that we have to give Steven time. They have to show progress; which they are doing. It’s a very difficult environment.”

The Old Firm clubs went head to head in the derby a couple of weeks ago and it was clearly evident the Bhoys were leaps and bounds ahead of Steven Gerrard’s side. But in our opinion, the league might be decided on how both these teams fare against the other teams in the leagues.

Rangers will take on St Johnstone in the Premiership this weekend and Gerrard will be hoping to pick up three easy points at home.

Celtic, on the other hand, have a tricky away tie as they travel to Ruby Park to take on Kilmarnock.
