Naby Keita’s injury which he sustained against Napoli on Wednesday might have looked like a small injury at first but with each passing hours fears around the midfielder has been growing.

The midfielder was taken off the pitch in the 19th minute after he went down off the ball and he was immediately taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Following Naby Keita’s injury, Liverpool released an official statement which read:

‘Liverpool Football Club can confirm Naby Keita was taken to hospital in Naples on Wednesday evening during the first half of the Champions League fixture with SSC Napoli.

The midfielder started the game at the Stadio San Paolo but was substituted inside the opening 20 minutes and replaced by Jordan Henderson after alerting the team’s medical staff to back pain.

Keita was transferred to a local hospital with the club doctor, where – with the midfielder’s agreement – he underwent a number of precautionary health checks to assess his condition.’

And now local sources in Napoli have claimed that Naby Keita’s injury might be a bit serious given the player spent Thursday night in the cardiology unit of the hospital.

Cardiology obviously deals with hearts issues so right now there are growing concerns that Naby Keita’s injury might have taken a turn for the worse.

The theories though are all speculations as the report itself claims that Naby Keita was stable during the early hours of Thursday.

Liverpool take on Manchester City at home on Sunday and Naby Keita’s injury puts him in serious doubt for the high-profile clash even though the Reds are yet to rule him out of the fixture.
