Manchester City are currently in the United States for their pre-season tour and they took on Liverpool on Thursday in the International Champions Cup.
With a number of players out on holidays after the World Cup, Pep Guardiola fielded a very second string side which ultimately handed a 2-1 win to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
It was the Sharks who took the lead in the second half thanks to Leroy Sane but then five minutes later Egyptian Mo Salah equalised for the Reds. Then it was a 94th-minute Sadio Mane penalty which decided the fate of the game.
But these pre-season friendlies are a way of managers judging their players rather than raving over the results but since the game was being played in New Jersey at the Metlife Stadium, it attracted a number of high profile celebrities.
And one such person was ‘How I Met Your Mother’ star, Neil Patrick Harris.
Harris was seen in the VIP box of the Metlife Stadium wearing a Manchester City shirt which clearly suggested that the American star was showing his support for the Citizens.
But oddly enough he was cheering for Manchester United.

In all fairness to Neil did mention in the video that this was his first ever football/soccer game which he was watching inside a stadium.
And it’s not really odd for such American celebrities to pop up at football matches in order to boost the eyeballs on themselves as well as the club.
But after this honest mix-up, the Manchester City fans have been subject to a huge banter from their local rivals.
