Salomon Rondon
Salomon Rondon to Newcastle

Newcastle United are planning to launch a bid in order to bring Salomon Rondon on board – according to reports.

Rondon is currently contracted with West Brom and Rafa Benitez has already given his approval to bring the striker to St James’ Park.

West Brom were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2017-18 season as a result of which a series of top quality players are readily available in the market. And Rondon is surely at the top of the pile.

As per reports, Newcastle are ready to meet the striker’s release clause which is expected to be in the region of £16.5 million.

Salomon Rondon joined the Baggies in 2015 on a four-year-deal for a club-record fee of £12 million.

Since then the Venezuelan striker has played 119 games for West Brom in all competitions scoring 28 goals.

Apart from his goal scoring abilities, Rondon is widely regarded as a hardworking striker.

The 28-year-old will happily run down the channels and is also a big threat when it comes to set-pieces.

Rondon played 37 games in the Premier League this past season scoring 7 goals and he will undoubtedly be a fine addition to Rafa Benitez’s squad.

With the Newcastle manager giving his thumbs up to the deal, the Magpies are expected to make a move in the coming few weeks.

And now that West Brom have moved down to the Championship there’s nothing much the Baggies can do if Newcastle come calling for Salomon Rondon.
