N'Golo Kante Chelsea France

Chelsea take on Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday and midfielder N’Golo Kante is going to miss this game due to illness, as being claimed by Goal.

Kante had just been coming back into form over the past few weeks so this untimely illness is going to halt his progress once again. And as per Goal, he will not only miss the Juventus game but will also sit out the Premier League clash vs Southampton next weekend.

The report claims: “The France international midfielder will sit out a European clash with Juventus on Wednesday and a domestic date with Southampton.

“N’Golo Kante had been hoping to rediscover his best form for Chelsea after shaking off a groin injury, but he is now back on the sidelines through illness and is set to sit out key Champions League and Premier League fixtures.”

The absence of N’Golo Kante will be a headache for the Chelsea manager but we don’t think he will be sweating too much over his team selection on Wednesday.

The Blues have ample backup in that area and if Kante is not available then players like Loftus-Cheek and Saul Niguez will be pushing for starts in midweek.

Also, Juventus have been very average this season and Massimiliano Allegri has some selection issues of his own.

The manager will be without players like Dybala and Alvaro Morata and as per the latest updates, Adrien Rabiot will also be an absentee.

While N’Golo Kante will surely be a big miss for Chelsea but their squad depth and their superb form should help them see this one through without any major hiccups.

UPDATE:

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed in his press conference that N’Golo Kante has tested positive for COVID which is why he is unavailable.

The manager said: ‘N’Golo unfortunately tested positive and he needs to quarantine and follow the government protocols. He was not in training today.’
