Chelsea suffered yet another defeat in the Premier League, this time losing to Wolves but midfielder N’Golo Kante was missing from this game.

The midfielder has just returned from a long injury lay-off but his absence immediately raised concerns of another injury setback. He was exceptional against Liverpool so naturally, his absence on Saturday was one of the major points of debate however Frank Lampard was quick to clear that Kante has not picked up any fresh injury.

The interim boss said that because N’Golo Kante has been out for so long, his game time is being tactfully managed.

“There’s no worries with N’Golo,” Lampard has revealed. “We’re fine with him, we’re managing him through.

“He’s been out for a long time. We have a way of managing him. I was aware of that from when I was at the club before.”

Kante was one of the main reasons why Liverpool could not take control of the midfield in midweek but without the French international, the Blues were all over the place against Wolves.

Lampard told the press that the midfielder’s game time is being managed and that is primarily because their domestic season is very much over so now their only focus is the Champions League.

Next up, Chelsea will face Real Madrid in midweek and someone like N’Golo Kante will be really important in the game. During his peak, the 32-year-old was one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and he can be the key to helping the Blues to stop the evergreen Luka Modric.

Frank Lampard has wrapped up Kante in cotton wool just to protect him for the trip to Spain because the result on Saturday does not have any consequences for the London side.
