Liverpool spent a lot of money in the transfer market last year which had led many to believe that the Anfield outfit might not have a busy summer.

That rumour though was quickly put to rest as the Reds have been linked with a host of top European talents with the latest one being Nicolas Pepe.

Nicolas Pepe currently plays for Ligue 1 side Lille and this past season, the winger has been in red hot form.

During the 2018-19 season, Pepe has played in 38 league games for Lille – scoring 22 goals and making 11 assists and now reports are suggesting that Liverpool have made contact with the French club.

The news is sourced from journalist Duncan Castles who is known to be a Man United sympathiser but there is no denying that he does have some credible sources.

Castles has claimed that Lille are ready to sell off Nicolas Pepe for the right transfer price and Liverpool are currently the first team in line to sign him.

This news will be a huge blow for Chelsea who have also been linked with the winger over the past couple of weeks.

Chelsea are said to lose Eden Hazard to Real Madrid very soon and reports had suggested that Sarri wanted to bring in Nicolas Pepe as a replacement.

While an interest from Liverpool will surely entice Nicolas Pepe but moving to Anfield might just turn out to be a bad idea.

The 24-year-old currently plays down the right wing and at Liverpool that space is occupied by Mo Salah which means, Pepe will have to fight for his spot in the first XI.

But if he were to join Chelsea then surely he will see a significant amount of game time given that Eden Hazard is on his way out and there is a big chance that Callum Hudson-Odoi might also leave sometime during the summer transfer window.
