Wolves picked up a fine 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend and after the game, Nuno Espirito Santo has shown his admiration for Jose Mourinho.

The Lilywhites have already suffered 10 losses in the league and the dropped points against Wolves mean Jose Mourinho’s side have fallen further behind in the race to finish in the top-four of the league table.

And now Nuno Espirito Santo and his boys have a real chance of grabbing that final Champions League spot but the Wolves boss did not shy away from praising Jose Mourinho after the match.

Nuno Espirito Santo said, as quoted: “When you speak about Jose Mourinho, personally he has an impact on me. Because I was a member of the [Porto] squad in 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 at Porto. That will stay forever.

“When you have someone that manages, coaches you and you follow, and you believe and you do everything that you can because you believe in that idea in your leader – that stays forever.

“That is the impact Jose Mourinho had on me. I think with every member of that squad he taught us how to win so that will stay forever.

“As a former player and a friend I wish him all the best from the bottom of my heart.”

Jose Mourinho has found it really tough to adjust with his managerial return and to be beaten by one of his former apprentices will surely not go down too well with the Portuguese. But right now, there’s not much the Spurs boss can do.

Nuno Espirito Santo, on the other hand, now has a real chance of mingling with Europe’s top managers next season since Wolves are just three points off the top-four in the league.
