When Manchester United brought in Odion Ighalo on a loan deal during the January transfer window a lot of eyebrows were raised. But it’s safe to say the Nigerian has adjusted well at Old Trafford so far.
During this short span of time, four goals in eight games for the club and right now there are rumours that the club are ready to make his loan deal permanent at the end of the season.
But while talking about his career choices on Instagram Live, Odion Ighalo hinted that he is only focused on what happens on the pitch since there’s still a number of people who would love to see him fail.
‘Firstly it was ‘Why are you going to England?’ With your age and all and that it is one of the biggest teams in the world,’ Ighalo said on Instagram Live, via Metro.
‘Number two, nobody gave me a chance but I know I’m a hard worker.
‘I don’t get carried away, I don’t listen. I do my work and just remain focused. When I came to Manchester United I pictured what I wanted to attain but I did not say a word, I did not go solo.

‘People on social media can always talk but you do not need to speak to people that you do not know. You must focus and do your job. The same people that criticise you will praise you when you do well and when they praise you, you can’t get carried away.
‘I am telling you, If I miss one chance now they will insult me, you understand? [Now] It’s ‘Ighalo you are the best’ but okay, one chance I miss and they will insult me so do not get carried away with hype, praise or criticism because those things are bound to happen.’
His parent club Shanghai Shenhua have already made him a substantial offer but most experts feel that he will be snubbing the new deal and remain at Manchester United primarily due to his love for the club.
But in China, he had been earning £300,000-a-week meaning the Nigerian will have to take a massive pay-cut if he wishes to play for Manchester United in the upcoming season.
