Man United’s Premier League game vs Liverpool on Sunday had to be cancelled due to massive fan protests outside the stadium as well as in front of the hotel and now Ole Solskjaer has pleaded to the fans to keep their protests ‘civilised’.

A large number of fans also managed to enter the pitch and barged into the dressing room while others stood outside the Lowry Hotel to show their anger against the Glazer family.

And before Man United’s Europa League game vs AS Roma, manager Ole Solskjaer has urged the fans to maintain decorum in the future.

The manager said, as quoted: “It was a difficult day for us. Of course, we wanted to play, we wanted to beat Liverpool for the fans because our job has to be getting good performances, good results on the pitch.

“That’s the players’ focus, that’s my focus but, as I said before the game, we have to listen. We have to hear the fans’ voice. It’s everyone’s right to protest, it has to be in a civilised manner, though. It has to be in a peaceful manner.

“Unfortunately, when you break in, when police officers get injured, scarred for life, that’s too far. That’s one step too far.

“When it gets out of hand like this, it’s a police matter. It’s not about showing your opinions anymore.”

Many have claimed these recent agitations are because of the Super League fiasco which took place a couple of weeks ago but former Man United player Ashley Young has come out to suggest that the anger against the club’s owners has been boiling for a few years now.

“A lot was said about it happening because of the Super League, but I know United fans and that’s not just what it was,” the former United star told Sky Sports.

“This is going back years and years with the owners, and the fans want to make their point. Obviously, you don’t want to see a protest getting violent, you just want to see a protest where [the owners] are aware and that they understand the anger the fans have got about things that have gone on in the past.

“It’s not right to see the violence in it, but the protesting is something the fans wanted to do and they wanted to have their voices heard.

“I don’t think I’ll comment too much about it, but maybe for the owners they’ll see what the fans are saying, they’ll see that anger and they’ll see how upset they are.

“United fans have been asking for change for a long while, so maybe we’ll see changes, maybe we won’t. I think there’s a lot of things in football that need to be addressed and that is one of them.”
