Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud is about to be a free agent in the summer and it looks like he’s on his way to Italy in order to join Inter Milan – as per reports.

The Frenchman was supposed to leave Stamford Bridge at the start of the new year with Frank Lampard even announcing to the media that Giroud would be allowed to leave under certain circumstances.

The manager had said back in January: ‘Olivier Giroud we know there may be something that could happen. The good thing about Oli is that he’s so experienced. I have a really good relationship with him, as do the club, so if all circumstances are right that may happen, but it’s not, so while it’s not he’s our player.

“I’ve spoken to him. If the conditions are that it’s something Ollie really wants to do, and it works for the club, and it works for me and the squad, then that’s something that could happen.

“But only when all three of those bases are covered. So we’re still there.”

But eventually, the player was stopped from moving out since Chelsea were not able to sign a new centre-back during the winter transfer window.

Now with his contract about to end, Olivier Giroud is all set to walk about and as per reports, the player is in line to join Serie A side Inter Milan – one of the clubs who were interested in signing him in January.

A report in Football Italia claims: “Inter have already agreed personal terms with Lazio target Olivier Giroud, who will leave Chelsea as a free agent, claim reports in Italy.

“He’ll leave Chelsea as a free agent over the summer, signing a two-year contract with option for a third.”

Some pundits have claimed that Lampard should offer Olivier Giroud a new short-term deal and keep him at the club for one more season.

And to be fair the manager did think of giving him a new contract due to his current spark in form after the injury to Tammy Abraham.

But it seems the player himself wants to move out in the summer since he is interested in signing a long-term deal, like the one he’s reportedly agreed with Inter Milan.

Also since the Euro has been shifted to the next year, the forward has yet another chance to make it to the French squad which is why he would want to join a club where he gets to play more football than he has been doing at Chelsea.
