If the latest gossip in English football is to be believed then Marc Overmars could make a return back to Arsenal.

Overmars spent three years at the London club from 1997 up until 2000 during which he played 100 games for the Gunners in the Premier League.

And now the 45-year-old is the director of football at Ajax but is rumours are anything to go by then he could be handed the same role at Arsenal.

As per reports, the Arsenal management want someone who can over closely with Unai Emery and it seems that they have shortlisted Overmars.

Overmars has built an impressive CV during his time at Ajax during the past couple of years and ever since the director of football sold Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona for £65million, he has really come into Arsenal’s radar.

But Overmars is not the only person who is being considered for the role as the report suggests that Monchi is also in contention since he has worked with Emery for a couple of years at Sevilla.

These reports are still in its early stages but if Overmars does join Arsenal are their new director of football then surely it will be a big step up for the club since Overmars is widely regarded as someone who has a nack of bringing in fine talents at Ajax.

And at a time when the Gunners owner is just refusing to pump in money into the transfer market maybe Arsenal need someone like him to make those genius small money buys who would go onto becoming world beaters.
