Arsenal might have gotten rid of Unai Emery but right now there’s no sign of a change in luck especially after their 2-1 loss to Brighton in midweek.

The loss meant the Gunners have not been able to pick up a win in their last five Premier League games and even Freddie Ljungberg has not been able to work his magic at the club.

Ljungberg is the new interim coach for the Gunners and he has also brought in Per Mertesacker as his stand-in assistant. And this is something which hasn’t pleased Tony Adams one bit.

The Arsenal legend has come out to slam Mertesacker for leaving his role as academy director in order to help out the first-team squad.

Adams said, as quoted by the Daily Mail: “That’s more important than what’s going on today on that football pitch. You need to build the future of Arsenal Football Club, Per Mertesacker.

“That’s what he’s got to do, concentrate on that. Go and find the players, go and sort that out. You can’t take him out. What’s the academy doing at the moment?

“How long does this continue, did it [Mertesacker moving across to assist Ljungberg] really effect it? I think I’ve made my point.”

We understand why Tony Adams is livid at the former Arsenal man but we don’t think, he’s done anything massively wrong.

This new role for Per is very much temporary meaning he will head to back to the academy sooner or later and we are pretty sure the youth system can work perfectly fine in his absence for some month.

On the other hand, the Arsenal senior side is in complete disarray and badly needed patchwork. So obviously the management turned to some of their most trusted and loyal employees in order to steady the ship until they bring in an heir to Unai Emery.
