Manchester United are amongst a host of clubs who have been linked with a move for Barcelona flop Philippe Coutinho.
But according to Man United legend Rio Ferdinand, the Brazilian is no longer the right man for Solskjaer’s men primarily because the club have now managed to sign Bruno Fernandes at the start of the new year.
“At Liverpool, he was an amazing player, but since he left Liverpool he hasn’t really done it yet,” Ferdinand said in an Instagram Q&A, as quoted by The Mirror.
“He struggled at Barcelona, struggled to fit in there and then he hasn’t done amazingly well at Bayern.
“I think he is a great player, a huge talent, I think he needs saving. Coming into the Premier League to the right team would be a saviour for him, he needs that.
“I would have said Man United before Bruno Fernandes turned up, but not now.
“Would he be a good addition, yes? Not Man United though, and he played for Liverpool so it is a difficult one. The rivalry is mad.”
Philippe Coutinho not fit for Manchester United?
The Brazilian has been a massive failure since moving out of Liverpool a couple of seasons ago and right now the player is just a big-price liability.
This season Philippe Coutinho is out on loan to Bayern Munich and even the German giants are not eager to sign him on a permanent deal meaning he will have to return back to Spain in the summer.
And so in such a scenario, we agree with Rio Ferdinand that Man United should not be spending unnecessary money on a player like Coutinho who is badly out for form.
Obviously he was one of the best players in the Premier League when he was playing for Liverpool and since then, his form has dipped meaning he could very well be another big name failure for Manchester United.
Also, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Man United have resisted making unnecessary signings unlike a few seasons ago so we feel that the authorities will think hard before making a move for Philippe Coutinho in the summer.
