Premier League side Chelsea could try and give up the chase to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen and in turn, shift their focus back to Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho has been on Lampard’s radar for a long time but recently the Blues seem to have shifted their attention to Havertz who’s also being targeted by Manchester United and Liverpool.

But as per Sport, Barcelona are desperate to sell Philippe Coutinho which is why they are willing to drastically lower their transfer demands so that the interested clubs sign the playmaker.

The report claims: “Barça are trying to accelerate Coutinho’s departure in order to score his sale at the end of the current year. The task is not easy because the player’s appraisal is high and his astronomical record stops the interest of many teams.

“The efforts are already fully focused on the Premier League, with Chelsea and Tottenham as possible destinations.

“The Blaugrana club has opened the possibility of accepting the inclusion of an interesting footballer to lower the final transfer figure, which should be around 90 million euros. The sports areas of the three clubs are intensifying contacts to try to reach an agreement.

“The footballer was offered to Inter Milan and Juventus, but the two Italian teams backed down due to the impossibility of paying the tab for the Brazilian footballer. From there, their agents are trying to convince Chelsea or Tottenham, the most interested clubs in the market, to approach a purchase transaction.”

Will Chelsea shift their focus to Philippe Coutinho?

Kai Havertz will undoubtedly be a better signing for Chelsea but the reality is that the youngster has a very steep price on his shoulders, one which could cause the Blues management some discomfort.

So there’s every chance Lampard might look to add one his unwanted players into the mix and then sign Philippe Coutinho at a 50 % discount during the summer.

If this happens then it will be great news for both Man United and Liverpool who are also keeping tabs on young Kai Havertz.

While these two Premier League sides are still pondering over a move, Chelsea have already set the ball rolling to sign the Leverkusen man. But if Coutinho is indeed available for a cut-price deal then the London outfit could very well shift their concentration to the Barcelona flop.

While Spurs are also being mentioned in this deal but we don’t think Daniel Levy will be able to gather too much money in order to fund a transfer for the Brazilian playmaker.

Philippe Coutinho is currently on loan to Bayern Munich but the Bavarians have decided not to trigger his buy-out clause this summer.
