But what was new for a lot of people to see was the dedication with which Neymar kept chasing the ball all throughout the game.
Thomas Tuchel seemed to have given the forward a new job for the all-important clash and Neymar did it with absolute perfection.
The 26-year-old hounded the Liverpool defenders whenever PSG did not have possession and he managed to win back the ball a fair number of times.
He also scored PSG’s second goal of the game which was the result of a brilliant counterattacking move from the home team.
And one look at Neymar during the game and everyone will say that the Brazilian gave his 100 per cent – something that is not often associated with the flamboyant player.
Well, Neymar has now come out to reveal that he was not fully fit for the game but chose to play because his team needed him.
“I was not 100%,” Neymar told reporters, via L’Equipe.
“But it was an important match so, injured or not, I had to be there.”

Yes, despite not being a 100%, the Brazilian played the full game and it was, in fact, Kylian Mbappe who was taken off by Tuchel late on in the second half.
With that wi PSG have now jumped over Liverpool in the group and now sit at eight points from five games.
Liverpool though still have the chance to qualify for the knockout stages but they would have to beat Napoli in the final group game with a margin of atleast two goals.
