Feyenoord’s 24-year-old midfielder Renato Tapia is reportedly being eyeing by Scottish giants Celtic as well as arch-rivals Rangers.
The player has caught the attention of a number of clubs this season in the Europa League and with a series of clubs interested in signing him, the player is not going to renew his deal at the club. This means Renato Tapia will be available as a free agent this summer.
A couple of days ago, there were rumours suggesting that La Liga side Celta Vigo have agreed on a deal for the midfielder but now his father has come out to rubbish all these claims while adding that the SPFL duo are keeping tabs on him.
His father said, as per Daily Record: “I’ve read the reports saying that Renato has agreed to sign for Celta Vigo and they are not true.
“There are a number of clubs interested in him, including both Celtic and Rangers from Scotland and Angers in France.
“For the moment, he will see his contract out with Feyenoord and will continue to train there. Nothing has been decided about his next move and we are waiting on more offers.”
Celtic or Rangers: Who will land Renato Tapia?
Renato Tapia has played in 15 Eredivise games this season and the 24-year-old will be a fine addition to whichever club he decides to join in the summer.
But we feel Celtic will be more eager to wrap up this transfer since they might end up losing Olivier Ntcham to Southampton in the coming few months.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is also looking to add a few reinforcements to his squad before the new season begins but what remains to be seen is if Renato Tapia is on Gerrard’s priority list.
There’s also a chance that both the Scottish sides end up missing out on the midfielder since Celta Vigo still hold substantial interest in him and if they manage to remain in the La Liga then Tapia could be tempted to play in the Spanish top division.
